ECO nonsense
If you truly care about the environment:
Do not drink bottled water
Stop eating beef
Stop consuming all dairy – milk, cheese, ice cream
Never buy any food that arrived by plane
Do not consume any food produced outside Japan
Stop flying
Unplug your electric toilet
Unplug and remove vending machines (there is one machine for every 23 people in Japan and they consume the electricity generated by 1.5 nuclear reactors)
Clean the beaches (even in remote areas of Japan, garbage is prevalent)
Buy one car and one bicycle and drive/ride them for 20 years
Buy appliances for longevity not price.
Force all city governments to change building codes to adopt energy reducing designs.
Double-glazed windows would be a start
There is an office building in Zimbabwe that maintains a constant, cool temperature without air conditioners.
Demand that the government triple the rate charged for electricity on all office buildings after 7pm until 7am
This is a good start.
Until you change these things, carrying your own “Eco” bag or buying anything that is ECO really doesn’t matter.
